It’s time for a new system. I was thinking a year round 1/4 system. Kids wouldn’t be held back a full year just the 1/4 at a time.

As a teacher it’s unfortunately so true. I have to pull my non grade level kids to small group all the time and don’t have time for my grade level kids. We need way more EAs and they need better pay.

Bingo. My grade 1 son is academically at grade 4/5. I asked about grade acceleration, and they said no, he has to stay with his peers. He's bored, he hates school because they don't challenge him.

What drives me crazy is my son is on/above. So the teacher asks him to help other kids with assignments. Then he gets in trouble for talking while students are doing their work 🙄 he’s 1@

I think kids should be in classes that are at their level. My husband was teaching himself 3rd grade math at 6 and wasn’t in classes that challenged him until college.
