The production firing you when they didn’t have swings or understudies is INSANE. I’m so sorry you went through this. This should be illegal. I wish actors had better protection

The show should totally have swings but I can feel the stage manager’s stress as more flights were cancelled😅

I feel like you can plan all you want and leave with more than enough and still wild things like this will happen

had an actor fly out to LA for an audition. flight got delayed & diverted. By the time he got to LA, he had no choice but to turn around and take the next flight back. He never left the airport.

I’m curious. Did you have any recourse with the union. The punishment seems vindicative rather than strategic. I’m sorry.

This is not industry standard outside of the US theatre industry. Wild that this is normal

If I was having staffing issues the last thing I’d do is fire an otherwise good employee for a one time infraction, since hiring, even with a large applicant pool, is a time suck. This is confusing.

I work in theatre in the UK & Europe and this is wild. Wow USA standards need to be altered immediately. Actors should be striking for more protective rights

This would not have happened at the equity theater I work at. They would have understood.

This is madness - as a uk theatre professional I’ve never heard of anything like this! I am so sorry, you should absolutely have hard feelings because that is in no way a proportionate response!!

Ugh :
Wouldn’t it make sense for them to have you there considering they don’t all all the understudies filled in? I mean it was one time and it was a perfect storm of cancellations

If they didn’t have a swing or coverage, why would they fire you so abruptly? Did they hire the fill in?

How many shows did you get to do before this? I’m just curious how that all played out and the time you spent in the show
