I have a idea. If Thomas made the maze and people Including his friends started constantly dying so he went in knowing what was going to happen and how to escape and that’s why he escaped so easily.

Explanation: in the book ‘the fever code’ which is basically what happened before the maze was created in thomas’ pov, Thomas and Teresa were basically super special from a young age and wicked could tell. Thomas and Teresa had telepathy from the devices implanted in their head and had many other skills, Wicked had tricked them into thinking building the mazes were going to be a good thing and never told them people would die, Teresa and Thomas design the maze and after everyone gets sent in (memories erased) Thomas and Teresa excluded. Thomas watches his friends in the glade and realizes wicked is terrible and people are dying. Him and Teresa decide to convince wicked to let them go into the maze as ‘spies’ with their memories intact (when really Thomas made a plan with Theresa to escape and save everyone) wicked agrees and Thomas gets sent in first but he’s tricked and his memories are erased anyway. Theresa betrays him because she convinced wicked to let her keep her memories and spy. Lots of memories were erased anyway but she had more than Thomas.
