@sean.chandler: Why buying a car sucks in the US (and a few other places). By law, manufacturers must sell all new cars directly to consumers just like how Tesla does it, or entirely through independently owned franchises aka car dealerships. By the way a Tesla “store” is not a “dealership”. Since car manufacturers dont have any foot in the sales process, like how Apple does with iPhones or Sony sith PS5’s, they can only provide a MSRP and hope that dealers follow it. While most dealerships have little power on their own, when combined they’re more powerful than any automaker. #dealership #cars #tesla #greenscreen

it's definitely not "unfortunately" those laws were out in place years ago to protect the buyer from car companies charging whatever they wanted for new cars

Well, running a dealership come with a huge cost. If manufacturers wanted to, they can take over the dealerships. But they wont due to the cost.

Transparency in Ontario. Look for "in stock fee" $2000 - $5000 mark up above MRSP.

Direct to consumer OEMs can markup their cars to increase profit margins and you cannot negotiate that price. So you’d still be overpaying…
