Saints Row died when Volition took the GTA clones to heart. Saints Rows comedy before 3 was a lot more grounded and dark to and they never realized it

the identity of saints row 1 and 2 was identical to GTA. GTA 4 had just come out 3 years prior and was insanely popular. so they leaned into the comedy on 3 and made a masterpiece.
