As a 20 year therapist I can tell you I go to great lengths to avoid hospitalization. Have a super clear conversation with your therapist to know their lines.

As a nurse, yes. Yes to the whole, "they can hold you responsible if you are not coppy enough"- and it 100% undermines patients feeling like they can ask for help.

When I was self admitted to a psych ward it was crazy much better I was treated vs involuntary patients.

friend just got out of a voluntary stay and one of their concerns going in was losing their therapist because some contract saying they wouldn't attempt. times when a specialist could've been used
