A whirlwind 30 hours in Philadelphia and Atlanta for two incredible conferences. First was @LBBC Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference. I spoke on Medical Updates in MBC. I gave a version of this talk back in September 2024 and I already had to update half of my slides since then - the pace of research is incredible. Key points from my talk: 1️⃣ Molecular testing is critical in MBC (testing of the tumor to identify mutations can be done on the pathology specimen or by a blood test also called a liquid biopsy). 2️⃣ There are often several approved drugs in a class of medications (such as CDK 4/6 inhibitors, PI3K inhibitors, ADCs) and decision to use different drugs will in part depend on where you are in your treatment course and potential side effects from each drug and how that will affect you. 3️⃣ There are some really exciting ongoing clinical trials with immunotherapy, ADCs, brain metastases, vaccines and more. From Philly, I flew to Atlanta to @For the Breast of Us BaddieCon conference. I was part of the most 🔥 panel with @Brooklyn Cobb, Dr. April Spencer, Annmarie Swatson and Thelma Perry Brown. We discussed barriers to care, disparities, unequal treatments, the importance of being seen and heard, the need for clinical trial representation, using your voice to empower yourself and your community, the responsibility on healthcare professionals, importance of meaningful survivorship care and more. I can’t stress enough that if you don’t feel seen and heard, I hope you are able to find a healthcare team that serves you. (I know and recognize that it is not always possible). Although I was only at each conference for a short time, the energy at each one was nothing short of incredible. Finding your people, your community, your tribe is so meaningful, so necessary and so uplifting on many levels. A huge thank you to the leaders at LBBC and For The Breast of Us for inviting me to be part of your events. Feeling grateful and honored to have been so welcomed into the communities that have taught me so much. 🩷 #breastcancer #mbc #stage4cancer #breastcancerbaddie
