I see both sides of this. A friendship goes both ways.

it's hard to be the friend left behind; it's hard to be the mom isolated. both things can be/are true.

Ok but im a mom and lets be honest. Us moms use our kids as excuses to always cancel. So I can see both pov!!

Kind of reminds me of that one SATC episode where Carrie’s friend expected her to celebrate all her big milestones (wedding, kids, kids birthdays) but didn’t reciprocate for her single friends.

But in the beginning she said everytime she invited you somewhere you said no… at some point people just stop asking. Ive been on both ends of this. Hard lesson to learn, set priorities and boundaries

Honestly, they’re both right. It’s hard being a new mom, but it can also be hard being the friend that reaches out and constantly gets rejected. Even though it’s with good reason, it still hurts

Like I get it from the mom side but as the childless friend, it’s SO exhausting to always be told no or cancelled on last minute

I have rejection sensitivity and it’s so hard to explain that it hurts being told “No” repeatedly

I felt the : "show me again how unimportant I am to you now" so hard in my soul.

Birthday girl is valid, new parents want the whole world to stop for them. It’s constantly placating feelings and then if they can’t go, they make you feel bad for talking about the fun you had.

As much as it’s important to include your new mom friends. It’s equally as important to hold space for friendships you value

“Are you saying I hurt your feelings by having a baby” no. But even understanding you have a baby, the other friend may still have feelings about missing them

I feel like my friends with kids never ask us to hangout. Like I don’t care if your baby is there. Just want some effort from you

I see both sides, I won’t invite you to my special even if you haven’t put the effort to anything else 🤷🏼♀️

i am 41, child free. what's super frustrating is friends with kids who expect me to make all the effort when they're the ones with tricky schedules. give me dates. give me times.

I’ve been left out of friend groups for not having kids. It definitely goes both ways 😭
