cut the quill halfway up then pull it. the quill will deflate in the Barb's will relax and you can pull it easier

If this happens often, you should stock up on pet safe pain meds, anti inflammatory meds and somethin to make her drowsy so she’ll be a more comfortable while removing Assuming you haven’t already!

As a vet tech- going to the vet to get some antiinflammatories at the very least would be best. If any quills are missed they migrate and can cause major issues. Also, they do not ‘deflate’ when cut.

It’s incredible that a dog can remember its past humans or find their way home but can’t remember that porcupines hurt 🤣😂 big hugs to the fur friend

Next time this happens, please go to a vet. Have your baby sedated to have these removed. I couldn’t imagine how painful that was. They have barbs like fishhooks so they dig under the skin.

Your dog has patient. Mine wouldn't sit long enough to pull them all out. I would of needed mine put under as they would be flopping and rubbing their faces about half way through.
