you try hand tightening the triple oil filters on a Volvo truck. see how fast the sump empties 🤣 literally tells you on the filter to use tools to tighten

if it's a light duty vehicle Hand tight is good. if it's heavy duty I go hand tight then grab a band wrench to go anywhere from 1/2-full extra turn. (1)

I go hand tight as physically hard as I can. I'm a fairly strong Rock climber on top of being a mechanic so I feel that It wont ever be too loose

On the first 1000 hr service of the 9800 Liebherr digger at work it took us 2 pry bars pushed through with a chain along and 4 hours later. 12 eng filters 😩

cat 326 1643/1644 fuel filters.. can spin those on til they just touch and not touch them, then come time again air hammer it off those things suckkk

Hand tight and then a 1/4 with band wrench. Only have had one leak after a service and doing it hand tight. Won’t have another.

Would rather fight an over tight filter ANY DAY.. then worry about it falling off and costing me a machine!!

a lil grease on the o ring and they come off a lot easier next time. and don't need a wrench to put them back on.
