Dad shoes, love them or hate them you can’t escape them on your newsfeed. They may look like they’re the perfect shoes in terms of practicality, but are they? Heres my thoughts: I do like this style because they are so versatile, I can easily wear them with jeans to a skirt. They wont make your foot sweaty, are VERY light weight, and not too pricey. BUT lets talk the cons, they are a little stiff, the mesh rips pretty fast (especially with the silver & navy blue model, less with the newer model I got), and comfort wise, very mid is the only way to explain it. I do see quite a few people working out & running in them PERSONALLY I wold not recommend. Don’t panic if you are, I don’t want you to think you have to throw them out the door. BUT when you’re ready to get a new pair of shoes consider getting a true gym or running shoe. As they lack the absorption & flexibility you’d need for a running, BUT they’re also not flat and stable enough for a workout shoe. The 530 design was inspired by NB’s running shoes in the 90s, even though they say running on them. They are not running shoes. An issue I see is that sneakers are so in, that theres not a clear separation of whats a casual shoe & whats workout shoe now for lots of people. Here is an exampe: the new balance Fuelcell is a running shoe, the Nike Romaleos are weightlifting shoe, the NB 530s are a walking or casual shoe. All sneakers, but all different purposes. Who would like a video on the difference between these? To sum up, if you like the this 90s look, have a wider foot, want a light weight breathable sneaker, don’t need a ton of cushion, and want a moderate heel to toe drop, these will get you through 1 year ish! Are dad shoes here to stay, or are we nearing the end of this trend cycle? Would love to hear your thoughts!
