@ms.gellar: ALL TEACHERS! If you have ever had caterpillars did this happen to you?! Last year mine were perfect but this year I have seemed to fail. Will they still hatch? My students are so beyond excited to have butterflies! Please comment if this has happened to you! Also, I think it's funny how we have girly pops working cooperate jobs and here I am trying to bring back to life a caterpillar chrysalis at 6:30am. This job is not for the weak😂🐛🦋#teacherlifebelike #teachersoftiktok #teacherlife #teacherlife #kindergartenteacher
K teacher here. I have at least one fall every year. Put the whole cup in the net or gently dump it in the net. It should be ok!

I think it says you can just put the entire cup in there and just leave them alone

I scoop them out gently with a spoon and put them on the bottom of the net close to the side. Mine have always been fine. I usually have like one or two fall each year.

I put a paper towel in the netted container. I gently scoop them to the paper towel with a spoon. They just need to be able to crawl/walk to the net and crawl up the side, so they can stretch wings

On the back of the paper it should say to carefully pick up the chrysalis with a spoon and set them on a dry towel in the net structure

If they survive their wings will be very deformed. Or they won’t survive. So sorry 😞

Please take it out if the cup. Put it on a tissue or paper towel inside the tent. The moisture from the food/frass will make it not come out of the chrysalis.

I just kind of rolled it into the net house when that happened and he hatched just fine. It’s when they come half way out and die that the real trauma happens. Godspeed.

Carefully scoop them with a spoon into the butterfly cage! Make sure nothing else is on the bottom of the cage or their wings could get ripped when they emerge. Last yr our falls survived!
