Most dealerships no longer have Mechanics. Tech's for the most part are plug and play, have the scanner tell them whats wrong. I have experienced this first hand. $2700 dealer quote was $470 at local

A Porsche dealer tech here. I always say I can’t diag a car over the phone or with picture. I always says let me lay my physically eyes and hands on it. So I can say for 100% XYZ is the problem.

a dealership mechanic only goes by what the computer says, same with diesel mechanic they don't know how to diagnose anything without the computer just sad ,just my opinion but I seen it way to many times
