The Femininomenon of La Virgen de Guadalupe 🥰💜✨🌹 The story of La Virgen de Guadalupe begins in December 1531, in what is now Mexico City. According to Catholic tradition, a humble indigenous man named Juan Diego encountered a miraculous vision of the Virgin Mary on Tepeyac Hill. She appeared as a dark-skinned woman, speaking to him in his native Nahuatl language. The Virgin Mary, who identified herself as the Mother of the True God, asked Juan Diego to request that a church be built on the hill in her honor. When Juan Diego relayed her message to the local bishop, he was met with skepticism and was asked to provide proof of the apparition. The Virgin Mary then instructed Juan Diego to gather flowers from the normally barren hilltop, where he found beautiful Castilian roses, not native to Mexico. He wrapped the flowers in his tilma (cloak) and when he presented them to the bishop, the image of the Virgin was miraculously imprinted on the fabric. The bishop was convinced and a shrine was built at the site, which became known as the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The tilma with the image of the Virgin, known as La Virgen de Guadalupe, is still venerated there today. Since then Juan Diego has also the first Indigenous Saint of the Americas. La Virgen de Guadalupe holds deep cultural and spiritual significance, especially among Mexicans and other Latin American communities. She is seen as a symbol of compassion, protection, and social justice. Her image and story have been used as powerful symbols in movements for the rights and dignity of marginalized communities, including indigenous peoples and the poor. She is often considered a unifying figure and a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of adversity. Though love, peace, and intercultural understanding, La Virgen fulfills her mission of uniting people and bringing them closer to her son, Jesus. May we continue to learn from this story and follow her example ✝️🙏🏽🕊️ #lavirgendeguadalupe #ourladyofguadalupe #catholic #femininomenon
