Ok but nobody answered the question of how to get the iron out of the blood. It's chemically bonded TO the blood cells, not just suspended in it's pure form.

“The corpse collector, who keeps his victims. Once he has enough, he forges a new sword with their blood; and currently has 3.” Or something like that would be an awesome DND villain

the Norse had a tradition of quenching swords in the blood of enemies. This is where the phrase comes from

as someone who isn't the best at chemistry or knowledgeable at all about smithing.. my biggest question has always been what color would the sword actually be? like would it still be a metallic gray(1

Although in order to properly forge it, you need a bit extra because you lose material in the forging process

It takes double the amount of raw iron than how much the end product will weigh

wrong An average longsword has a finished weight of around 1.5 kg — but typical generates an additional 0.75 kg of waste. That means we'll need 2.25 kg of workable iron to make the sword.

most of a humans iron isn't in the blood, using only blood it would take many more men. lots of iron is in the eyes and bone marrow, practically anything red has iron.

at the risk of being the buzzkill, I think this is just combat experience. the sword isn't stronger, the fighter is just a better fighter than he was before he started defeating opponents.

I refutes this a long time ago. their math is flawed as it only calculated the Iron contained in the finished sword, not how much you would need for an initial billet to forge and grind the blade from

but if you only use it to temper then was it really part of the forging prosses since the blood was nowhere near the forge

I'm so glad they cleared up the size issue. I was trying to convert to freedom units because that seemed like a pretty good size for a sword. remember kids. Swords aren't heavy. You're just weak.
