@behaviortalkmama: ⬇️ Helpful bonus tips down below This is not to say I never say “don’t” BUT I do find its more effective when I tell my child what TO DO ✅ rather than what not to do ❌ It also allows us to give parental attention (one of the strongest forms of reinforcement for a child) to the positive behavior ⭐️ and NOT the behavior we don’t want them to do Tips to make this even more effective: ⚡️Use short, concise language: too much verbiage can make it murky for your child to understand what you’re asking of them. Keep it short and to the point ⚡️Make it a statement, not a questions: rather than, “can you keep your hands to yourself?” use, “hands to yourself” ⚡️Same language every time: this makes it clear what the expectations are and your child doesn’t have to spend time to figure out what mom means ⚡️Model the action: be a physical model for putting your hands down, using an inside voice, walking, etc ⚡️Reinforce / praise when the child gets it right! “Thanks for putting your hands by yourside” “Thats sitting in the chair!” “you’re being so safe walking right now” Make sure the follow @behaviortalkmama for simple child behavior tips that make a big impact on the happiness of the whole family 🙌🏻 #behaviortalkmama #childbehavior #positiveparenting #gentleparenting #parentingtips #childdevelopment #momlife #toddlermom #mindfulparenting #parentingtips #momhacks #childpsychology #parentinglife #behaviorsupport #momcommunity #momclub #parenting101 #behaviorstrategies #toddlertantrums #momlifebalance #toddlertoys #goodlistening
