This is probably why BPD isn’t suppposed to be diagnosed until someone is 18 as your personality is undergoing a lot of changes in teen years

People USUALLY dont “qualify” to get a BPD diagnosis until 18 years old minimum. Thats because the symptoms mimic a lot of other stuff that teenagers go through (neurotypical or not) but also

many clinicians won’t diagnose under 18 bc “normal”(not to invalidate what you’re talking about, sry just for lack of a better term) teenage development can sometimes resemble bpd symptoms

How'd you find efficient talk therapy? I've just discovered from following fellow Autistics, that they've had to find a therapist that is Autistic as well & even with a higher IQ than themselves.

i think that late diagnosed autism and bpd can go together because bpd is often caused by chronic invalidation in childhood, and having your autism ignored for so long is like a form of invalidation.

I feel like maybe some of BPD is basically unrealized ASD in girls/women + trauma + lack of support/assistance. BPD is a trauma response, and to me, so many of the symptoms overlap.
