If it’s a truly high performance car, the more air/fuel going through the engine, the more power. High flow = louder

less restriction = more horsepower, basically. it's why race cars are so loud. granted there are a lot of grifters that make their slow cars loud for no reason

Depends on the motor and the power output, more combustion will lead to more sound. As for exhausts they perform better when they are larger and less restricted.

It's literally just another form of music, although that's more of a byproduct of increased horsepower. there is a reason big music companies spend so much money to develop good sounding car exhausts.
