@davidsuh: Helping others celebrate their culture and identity started with learning to celebrate mine with pride. I grew up majority of my life in Seoul and Hong Kong so for a long time I rejected the idea of being Korean American. I reflected a lot on this complex identity that many of us experience such as the shame of not upholding our culture enough, the disagreement of certain parts of our culture that don’t sit right with us, the pride of aspects we do cherish, and then the balance of it all. Only after finding a sense of belonging through friendships, communities, and shared experiences, I found myself defining my identity in America and what it meant to be Korean American. It’s been incredible to work with so many clients and friends of the AAPI community to help them express a new version of them that let’s go of standards and beliefs that no longer serve them while welcoming a new definition that empowers instead. My new studio will always have the foundation of welcoming all culture and helping you find belonging in your unique identity. Happy AAPI Heritage Month ❤️
