@anaffordableaccountant: Money is a tool. With all the layoffs going on and the troubled economy, it is critical for you to get your finances in order. This starts with a written budget. Find out what you are truly spending. Go through your expenses and reduce them, shop around, eliminate them. I did a post about saving money on cell phone and people want me to cut them for other expenses that are high such as Internet, cable, and car insurance. Every dollar counts. Having a written budget, you can see if something is out of control and start to fix it. if you have been laid off the first thing to do to make sure you get a written budget as soon as possible and live off the minimum that you can you can always go back to normal spending when you get a job.
