@patrolman_g: Why be so quick to write police candidates off when they don’t successfully make it through police academy with you? That very same person that you wrote off could end up back in police academy at a later date get hired in same agency as you and become your supervisor. Now you habe to awkwardly answer to this person. Just like you motivated or lead that person in class, keep it going. That is still a person with similar interest that could be an idea candidate with a little more help.
