@cast_iron_chris: Using a pound of salt to clean off eggs is the most extra. Be sure to check out my cleaning videos(can easily be found in my Basics of Cast Iron series, which can be found in the link in my bio). No need to overcomplicate it: Wash it(preferably with soap and water). Dry it. Oil it. Crack a beer and move on. Or a mimosa if you’re cleaning eggs.

I have used salt and paper towel but just to get off the stuck on layer that soap didn't get but a tablespoon of salt works
