I’m from Florida, my grandmomma is from South Georgia. So I always talked like her cause I was always with her. When I’m not with her I sound normal, when I’m around family it comes out bad

I'm from Nashville and only have a bit of an accent because I picked it up from my Appalachian family. None of my friends that went to Hendersonville have an accent.

Same with Atlanta! I don’t know really anyone from the metro area that has a distinct southern accent

I once worked with a guy born and bred in Pennsylvania (don't know where exactly) who talked with an accent that sounded like you'd expect from somewhere in Kentucky or Tennessee. 🤷♀️

Savannahian here and same deal. Older natives do have someone of an accent, but it did begin to drop off somewhere in Gen X. Same goes for most big cities in the south.

I went to Hendersonville school! People always ask “where is your accent” when I tell them I grew up in Tennessee

It's interesting cuz you get to central and southern Indiana and Illinois and some people talk in a way that most people will hear as southern accent but isn't

I grew up on North Carolina. I had a strong accent because I spent a lot of time around older relatives but then I moved up north the DMV and now it's basically nonexistent 😂
