HEMA fencer here. I've gone against flamberge rapier & dagger. They're stickier than straight blades. Moving up and down the blade is harder. Not due to vibration, but distance.

It’s also worth noting that an angled edge cuts better than a straight edge. Think about how you cut raw meat, you put the blade at a slight angle instead of flat.

Another overlooked reason is that it symbolises the sword of Saint Micheal, a flaming sword used as the judgement of god, so the idea is someone with a flaming (flamberge) sword is righteous and just
