actually I don't believe they are allowed to direct debit your account. it only gives them permission to put money in

They will only garnish after years and years of notice. I used to work for TD and we would have to put the cra holds on accounts.

I’ve never had CRA go into my bank account and take money. I’ve made payment arrangements with them on 3 separate occasions.

They usually just take my GST and stuff they’ve never touched my accounts and I owe money every year. So this must have been a lot of build up.

they don't just instantly do that . They warn you several times . This is a form of garnishment.

I owed money for a year from my last tax return, they just keep my benefits. They never went into my account. Has to be pretty bad for them to do so.

They don't do that. They literally allowed me to pay $20 a month until I paid of what I owed. They also took my GST. If you run and you ignore your debts they will do this.

I refuse to give CRA my bank details. I even have one account that is solely used to deposit govt cheques then I withdraw it and deposit into a different bank. I have done this forever.
