Btw hotels get over booked because of people buying through multiple sites and those sites don’t mark the room as booked, so it’s like two different booking for the same room

That sucks. Did you use a booking site to make your reservation by any chance? Usually hotels prioritize their customers who book direct over those who book with a 3rd party.

Did you book directly through the hotel? I worked at a Marriott and they had a policy if we didn’t have the room type we had to give them a room free of charge
