My guy pushed out the rod before having it inside the hole, unnecessary exposure. Put the gauge around the edge of the plate and you can drop the rod without taking it out prior.

It all depends on the Labs Proctor, they will tell you how much moisture you need to get your density, that being said that looks pretty soft
