@dear.ext: In this au the death/loss of Katsuki completely affects Izuku to the point that he just goes through life day to day without any real thought, so that's why you see as if his clothes change and his environment.  He's just going through the motions. Nothing is enjoyable to him anymore like when you see Uraraka chatting with him he is unresponsive and still has the same dead expression. In Uraraka's point of view maybe he seems normal but how he really is on the inside is what we're seeing here.  There's no light in his eyes either. For his 17th birthday it's the same even though he was thrown a big birthday party that didn't matter to him at all. Nothing does anymore. Katsuki isn't there. A little detail is his tie is done properly when we see him in his UA uniform. That's because Katsuki was the one who taught him how to tie it shortly before they started the final war.  Only at night he shows some emotion when he looks over to the picture frame he always keeps on his bedside table: him and katsuki when they were little kids.
