OP’s rent was 750 CAD a month, so over 4 years that’s at least 36k or more. He also had student loans because his parents didn’t want to support him.

It’s not the money, he makes that clear, but also the fact they tried to give it back… like all the time and effort just for it to be for nothing. Just the money back. Not invested, no add on.
