Aircraft mechanic here, we poke holes in cardboard and stick the screws in it with a number for each hole and matching numbers on the jet written on masking tape. Especially windshields & large panels

If you do lots of repetitive repairs, the organization becomes a pile of bolts, nuts and miscellaneous items. 😂

I realized at some point along the way that it’s not even memory for me anymore. It’s instinct and experience. I’ve put together a lot of things I never took apart with no trouble.

if they're specific lengths like bellhousing or water pump. I'll poke them through a rotor box in order. Otherwise I use a Plano tackle box organizer.

I have lots of spray can caps. Sharpie marker comes off with brake clean. Throw the bolts in, label, put them in a bin. Great for projects that take a long time.

After decades I just toss em in a box and freak out my boys. Funny though I never have left overs! If I haven’t done it yet I’ll bag them ( keep the bags as they get reused!!

Ya know, I just remember somehow.. unless I’m doing something like a timing over. Other than that.. I put it into separate box bunched together.. as long as I know its labeled “front” then it’s easy

I have to re thread bolts back in when something comes off or I’ll likely forget where that bolt goes. It takes more time but it’s more guaranteed to go back together correctly
