This is what I knew about Queen Amanirenas before; @simoneninasimone: Queen Amanirenas attacked Egypt, which was being ruled by Rome. Roman forces were expanding Southward into the Kushite territories. The Kushites attacked Thebais, Syene, Elephantine, and Philae while there prefect Aleius Gallus was away and Arabia. The queen had her army enslave, the inhabitants of the conquer cities, and had statues of Caesar Augustus, the defaced. Queen Amanirenas showed her despise of Caesar Augustus by having the head of one of his statues buried beneath her temple of the steps of Meroe. The new prefect that Rome issued to Egypt was the Gaius Petronius. Petronius armies were able to push the Kushites back into their own lands and was able to stop their forces. But using guerrilla tactics, Petronius was not able to subdue the Kushites. Petronius was running out of manpower and other goods. Petronius sent word to Caesar Augustus of his situation. Augustus knew that it was a lost cause. Augustus then sued for peace, leaving the Kushites in peace and did not impose taxes on Kushites land and marched what was left of their army to Egypt. This was the first time Cesar Augustus had made such a peace treaty and stand. Queen.Amanirenas made it clear that she was not a ruler to be intimidated, such as Egypt. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
