Im not Japanese but I can say as someone who is multicultural when someone is loud in another language that's foreign to the place, it FEELS louder.

there is a lot of health benefits in not having to deal with noise pollution too much, so there's nothing wrong with the JP etiquette of trying to be as quiet in public transpo as possible.

My friend went to Japan last year and she said that it made her angry how they complain about loud people and then there is noise and music every where you go, even in a rolling staircase. 24-7

IKR 😂 I’ve visited Japan multiple times, and there are a lot of noisy and loud Japanese too. Japan is just like anywhere else, nothing special guys 💀

We experienced this. We were not even loud, just riding the lift with our baggages and talking and navigating in low voice with my husband and the Jap keeps on rolling his eyes whenever we whisper. 🙃
