@toryburch: Replying to @What Happened to Austin? #UmaThurman wears a custom blue silk taffeta gown with hundreds of silk organza butterflies floating above her shoulders and back. Tory was inspired by an extinct butterfly, the American Xerces Blue; its magnificent iridescent wings reminded her of Uma’s eyes. Each butterfly was individually hand-cut and hand-painted in Tory’s atelier, then applied to a delicate silk-wrapped wire. The gown was constructed with a double-layer skirt, an exaggerated hip, and a hand-molded corset bonded to hand-pleated, hand-pressed silk taffeta. #MetGala #MetGala2024
