I always wondered this as I have research on these types of product because my top PCIE lane is gen 4 and my 2nd one is gen 3 and I use gen 4 NVMe will it be capped at gen 3 speeds or gen4?

Please remember that the cheaper motherboards only come with one pcie x16 4.0 the first being occupied by your gpu, the second is a pcie x16 3.0 in most cases, the more expansive have 2 x16 4.0 slots
