Where I’m from in Aus it’s known as a TackYack - like you’d say “someone’s yacking up their guts over there” but I really don’t know the origins of the term yack.

“I’m so hungover and feel so sick” me on my 20th birthday to my parents. My mum (a true Aussie) “here drink this” and hands me a glass of wine. “Mum I’m hung over.” “Hair of the dog will fix ya” and gave me a bucket and 3 hours before we had to be at a family lunch
