@lucy.does.trigs: How I got my dog to sit in my backpack whilst I hike 🐶🎒 The Reason I carry Otis is because I still want to hike a decent distance but he can still only do shorter walks because he is 9 months old. I let him walk the start, carry him in the middle then let him walk the end 🐶🎒 meaning I'm looking after his little legs. I started off when he was a little pup carrying him in a tote bag under my arm, this was to get him used to being carried. He got lots of treats and praise! 🐶 I then carried him in a backpack on my front for a bit, again giving him lots of treats!  Then when he was ok at that I popped him on my back making sure his head was out and was propped up using blankets/ towels as a booster! 🎒 You can buy dog booster seats and specially designed backpacks, but they were expensive so I chose to do it this way!  I used the @fjallravenofficial Kajka 35 litre 🦊 It has a detachable hood which makes it ideal for when I pop Otis in there on longer hikes! The hood can still clip onto the front of the bag making it even better. This is my go too hiking bag even without carrying the pup! I made sure to feed him loads of treats over my shoulder when he's settled and being good.
