Think Iceland is only covered on EHIC card and not the GHIC one.Your own government website makes that distinction.The card you had in the video looks like an EHIC to me and I'm an EU citizen

I haven't heard of the GHIC card, I always used to get an E111 from the post office but didn't realise something had replaced it. Thank u for using your accident as a teaching moment xxx

Honestly advocating for people to get GHIC (which is free!!!) and travel insurance is so needed!! Younger people like us tend to just chance it but you’d be absolutely screwed in this situation! My insurance is always expensive because of my pre-existing but I never leave the country without it cos you just never know! Thankfully I’ve never used it but it’s a necessity!!

I have what is called a “european health insurance card” I am from Iceland and have been living in Norway and now Sweden and I always travel with it 🙏🏻

if you have an EHIC that is still in date that is also valid for uk citizens but will need to be updated to a GHIC when it runs out

I had to use it last year and saved a small fortune. Also any additional medical expenses not covered can go through your travel insurance WITHOUT any excess which is another bonus 👌
