I believe the first sound was the shock wave from the ground that was actually audible. second was the sound/pressure wave from the air.

The “sound” and the “shockwave” are different things. The sound you hear at the start. The shockwave is the pulse of moving air caused by the blast which you see (and also hear) at the end.
