i use a surik sword (idk if you know it) and what we usually do with it is step back, go to the side from where they tried to swing from and hit from there 👍

I'm a foil fencer with short arms, so I usually go for the parry reposte rather than counter attacks. but of course, it's a sport and we still deal with target area and right of way

I always thought low parries were good for uprising (hip to shoulder) strikes (I’m self taught so I’m probably mistaken) so what is a good parry/defense for a low to high cut
