@miahniycole: Reflecting on my 3 1/2 year journey of abstinence, here are four lessons God has taught me on so far ! 👀 1. Self-Control:True self-control isn’t just about resisting temptation; it’s about understanding that just because something is available doesn’t mean it’s right for us. It’s about learning to say no to what harms us physically and spiritually, and embracing the freedom that comes with it. 2. Emotional Regulation:As women, navigating emotions can be a rollercoaster, especially when it comes to relationships and intimacy. Learning to regulate our emotions by anchoring ourselves in God’s word helps us find peace amidst the storms, ensuring our actions align with our values and beliefs. 3. Patience:Waiting for God’s timing isn’t always easy, especially in a world that promotes instant gratification. But patience isn’t passive; it’s an active trust in God’s plan, knowing that His timing is perfect. In the waiting, He’s shaping us, molding us, and preparing us for His best. 4. Self-Worth:Society often ties our worth to external factors like appearance or achievements. But true self-worth is found in our identity as children of God. Engaging in premarital sex can distort our sense of worth, but God’s love reminds us that we are valued, cherished, and deeply loved, regardless of our past. Through these lessons, I’ve experienced God’s transformative power firsthand. Each day is a step closer to the person He’s calling me to be.
