a lot are from new agencies, who's main photography was still in black and white because newspapers were in black and white. However, we all saw network news in the 80s and SA Apartheid

The New York Times didn’t print in color until 1997. Washington post didn’t until 1999. Both did color front pages only, inside pages were b&w.
