I was given purple overlay. I wish I had been given dragon software as a kid, I didn’t get until I was 39 years. I also have coloured lenses in my glasses

I feel that the overlays were a step between actual help and what I got in the 80s which was nothing...on a good day. it was at least a small nod that help was needed (not that they work of course)

I have coloured lenses in my glasses that help stop the symptoms of letters moving - also been a game changer for me with light sensitivity stopping me getting overstimulated as quickly

my oldest children have irlen syndrome, my youngest has dyslexia, the overlays work for the older 2 but not the youngest.

I got some serious judgemental looks at a recent governor meeting for challenging the use of coloured overlays for dyslexia students and for also questioning why the heck every student has been given

my son has dyslexia and visual stress the over days help him by 15% definitely not a strategy for teaching, schools gibe the child an overlay and think the jobs done

I have both dyslexia and visual stress. I've had both pink and green paper and my teachers were still confused why I couldn't suddenly read at the typical speed and still need a laptop to write

Overlays help more for Mears-Irlen syndrome (basically visiual stress) which affects reading. Its closely linked to dyslexia but often completely overlooked and most have never heard of it 😅

Those made my eyes go iut of focus. The blue wasn’t too bad but the others were horrible. I have to force myself to eyes to stay focused
