yeah they've got the argument wrong. it's not public money. the issue is that higher bonus's encourage bankers to take more risky strategies (cont. below)

The impact of the cap was to massively inflate base salaries. Removing the cap will reduce those bases which is a good thing for all.

a private bank paying its employee bonuses is not the same as UC minimum or schools / hospital being under underfunded.

So let Goldman keep it and not pay tax on it? Or tax the hell out of it (45%), and then have it spent in our economy?

This completely misses the point that competition for top bankers is massive. They will just raise the base salarys but now have much higher fixed costs which puts them off investing in London and UK

Yes because bankers don’t get paid by the government using tax money. There is a difference. In any case, they got paid via other ways that are even worse than bonuses. It’s a crazy world we live in.

What happens to this podcast when Labour continues wealth inequality, fails to uphold their 'working man' values, and leads us into an invetitable downward spiral?

Allowing risky behaviour in order to achieve bonuses will lead to 2008 all over again. This isn't just about bonuses it's how they are gained and the impact on wider society because of that behaviour.
