@missclairebenjamin: 🚨 Handling brutal feedback PART 2👇 Feedback delivered without care and consideration can have a huge impact on our self- confidence. In the moment we can be caught really off guard and may become upset which is completely understandable. We don’t have to sit there and take feedback that is causing us mental harm. We also don’t need to meet disrespect with disrespect. We can advocate for ourselves without matching their energy. When someone is delivering feedback in a disrespectful, inconsiderate way this highlights a lack of skill and self- awareness on their part. I’d recommend bringing it into their awareness by using the phrase I use in this video: “Is there a kinder more respectful way you could share this feedback as the way you’re currently sharing it is really crushing for my confidence which I don’t think is helpful” If they say you need to toughen up you can reaffirm what you’ve said: “Regardless of whether you think I need to toughen up please can you share feedback in a kind respectful way” Whilst in the moment you probably won’t get much acknowledgment they are likely to be more cautious going forward. 📌 Please be mindful that the approach shown in this video will not fit every situation so always use your own judgement and adapt it to suit your own circumstances.
