There’s an enormous difference between breaking spines (ok) and completely removing them 😳

rest in peace, our fallen books. is this why so many book lovers have swords? to protect the books?

I knew a girl who worked in a used book store and when they would get “donations” that were just so damaged (pages missing, ripped up, water damage) she would craft with them for a “second life”.

When I worked at a library they used to have to destroy books that were too old/out of date/nobody wanted. I saved as many covers and spines as I could to do these kinds of projects with!

libraries throw away tons of these, you'll notice a lot of those are very old books, in fact the ones near me takes us spines off because they can recycle the paper as long as they cut away the glu

And this is why, as a book binder myself, I would just design my own spines for this instead of removing them from perfectly good books.

the only acception for using a book for art/crafts is if the book is too damaged to be saved (in my opinion) I found a Harry Potter book on the side of the road one time and picked it up 1/2

A home stager to sell my house tried to turn all my books around. She said that’s how you decorate & they look better that way. She started at my special self w/ signed editions. She had to be stopped!

I get why everyone is upset but it’s not like there super rare books, there are millions of those. If someone bought a Elden Ring disc and broke it I wouldn’t be mad

I like the weird mix of colors my bookshelves have, no hate to book color coordinators, but I just ain't got my life together like that and have no interest in that level of self-induced stress 💀😩🤣

those are actual book spines that's the issue that a lot of book dragons are having, it's a good idea but let's maybe not remove the spins from books in still good condition. old nearly dead books...
