@floriangadsby: There are two tools that are essential to my repetition throwing. The first is that discussed in this video, my throwing gauge made by @darrenellispottery, the second, and not discussed or shown, is the mirror that sits opposite me. It’s positioned in such a way that I can see a perfect side view of the pot I’m making, which means I don’t need to lean backwards awkwardly to see it, or get off the wheel, as doing so would interrupt my making rather a lot. Instead, the side view is just there to see at all times, meaning I get a much better view of the vessel, which isn’t distorted from a top-down view. Together they work wonders, gauge and mirror, they’re also like an additional sense, and without them I do sometimes feel a little lost, which probably isn’t the best thing to admit to, but once you start using them and get used to them, it feels almost wrong when they aren’t in your repertoire. #wheelthrownpottery #potteryvideos #handmade #pottery #clay
