@esthersoyunpark: From the moment she was born I spoke only Korean to her and dad only spoke Portuguese. Until recently, all of her first words were in Korean and she spoke a lot less compared to other kids her age that were primarily speaking one language. Her doctor did tell us she’d start speaking a bit later, maybe even a year later than most kids because we speak 3 languages at home. Of course I tried not to compare but as a mom, it’s hard 🥹. There were moments I’d worry that we were confusing her. But I’m so glad we’ve been sticking to our plan. She’s finally starting to say some words in Portuguese now and seems to understand all 3 languages which is still so incredible to me. She only refers to me and Paulo as mom and dad in Korean and to Paulo refers to us as mom and dad in Portuguese which is crazy that she can already decipher who speaks what language. I’d love to hear of any other stories of ya’ll speaking multiple languages to your children 🤍
