@dsokocha: My parents came from Nigeria when my father matched as an IMG into internal medicine residency. My dad did not come from wealth, but he promised himself that he would make it to the States and become successful. My mother started her education from scratch once she came to the US. She worked her way all the way up to DNP — the highest academic honors for nurses! This day answered the prayers of my anscestors. I am continuing the legacy that my parents have graciously started.
