@mjg_write: Back in October, I hinted to my students that I had a HUMONGOUS secret about my book, Sky's End, that I was dying to share with them, but I told them I couldn't tell them just yet. By the time we came close to the announcement this last week, the students were ready to pop. Periodically, during the year, students would ask, "Mr. Gregson, what was that big news you were hinting about?" I had to remain cryptic. Well, when I finally revealed the news, my students exploded! Even students who pretend not to be excited about things lost their minds. This reveal was different than the Sky's End cover reveal because with that, I didn't know what I was going to see. But this news? I wanted to see their faces, their shock. Their expressions made me get emotional. Some students were shocked into silence, hands over their mouths, eyes huge. Others screamed with disbelief. These group of kids have been incredible. I'm excited for summer, but I'm sad they have to grow up and move on to 8th grade. What a special year this was. Releasing Sky's End after dreaming of being a published author for twenty years. Hitting the NYT bestseller list. And now, a feature film franchise in the works from Antoine Fuqua. I'm grateful to share my journey and my dreams with my students. We're less than two weeks away from the cover reveal for Sky's End's sequel. My students and I are counting down the days to see it together for the first time at the final assembly. #BookTok #movies #books #fantasybooks #teacher #student #middleschool #author #feelgood #inspire #motivate
