I still don’t get it. The ball is bigger and heavier, why? And can you curve underhand? And do they throw overhand when throwing from outfield or between bases? It’s such a strange sport to me.

You can not through underhand faster than overhand. Not even close. Is another reason the mound is closer. Further back would slow the ball to much. Great game in itself. No need to compare and lie.

Physiology yes, physics no. Underarm pitching places less stress on the shoulder, elbow and wrist, but is less powerful and certainly less accurate.

The facts are true but if it was a “strategic advantage” wouldn’t professional players go under hand for the advantage. It is a decision to have different rules for a different but very similar game.

mens fastpitch mound is 46 ft away with an 8 ft circle around it,with the jump the ball comes from 42 ft ,way harder to hit
